The site of D.D.P.C. installation construction project is located on the western grass of the CAUA building. The purpose of this project is to improve the current landscape usage so that people walking through could take fully advantage of the landscape instead of simply watching the plants. Over exposure makes it embarrassing for people to stay within the site. Everything you do here could be easily watched by the people from the CAUA building and the road. And another reason of this phenomenon is that there's no bench or seat for people to sit on. Our design is to correct the problems given above and to add more active elements to make the place more popular. To provide enough privacy, we used the concept of "Cocoon" to bring a sense of being protected, by the meantime, the section shaped pieces keep the transparency so that previous landscape will not be fully occupied by the pavilion, and people around the pavilion still possess a good view towards bamboos and trees. We also did a lot of researches on human body and structure details. We added three benched on the pavilion, one of which is for public transportation, and two of which is for those who are using the pavilion. To keep the seats comfortable, we also doubled the density of the slices in the sitting area. What's more, we also carefully designed the height and the curvature of the bench and the shape of interior space according to the region of body movement of a standing person to keep the inner space comfortable to use.As for material, we chose PVC foamed board, a type of material that is light, tough, economic, water-resistant, fireproof, and durable. By assembling the whole structure with steal pipe, hoop, shim, and PVC pipe, we made a structure with both intensity and tenacity, which makes the attribute that could keep the pavilion perfectly match the fluctuant site as a stable structural system. Except for pavilion, Cocoon Pavilion could be used as stage, catwalk, display hall and gathering spot as well.
